How did your Love Story begin?
We were lucky enough to cross paths while Kristin was studying abroad in Stefan’s hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark. Our summer fling quickly turned into much more, and we decided to give long distance a shot. We are so happy we did! After two years of long distance, Kristin moved to Copenhagen. Having lived two years now in the same country, we are excited to see where our next chapter as The Vinds will take us.
Tell us all about the proposal!
Stefan had a master plan secretly arranged with Kristin’s family. Kristin was under the impression that we were going to dinner with her brother and his girlfriend. Instead, Stefan took Kristin for a walk along the Banks in Downtown Cincinnati where he popped the question. Kristin’s family was hiding and taking pictures from afar. The celebration was rounded out with an amazing dinner in the company of Kristin's Family.
What was your favorite part of the engagement and planning process?
We loved putting the pieces of the puzzle together – from getting the venue, to the church to the food. This helped us better picture what our Big Day would be. We spent a significant amount of time visualizing what it would be like to have Kristin’s American family in the same room as Stefan’s Danish family.
What was the most challenging experience while planning?
Given that we live in Copenhagen but got married in Cincinnati, the most challenging part was definitely planning the wedding from abroad. Luckily we had a small army of help in Cincinnati to help make it all come together. We are so grateful especially to Kristin’s mom for that!
Do you have any advice for engaged couples planning their wedding?
The best piece of advice that we received just before the wedding and that we would like to pass on is: Your parachute is already open. You can either enjoy the view or worry and crash.
To put it simply – don’t stress the little things! It will all come together and be beautiful!
Tell us about your experience working with us!
It was an absolute pleasure working with McHale’s! The pre wedding communication was simple and organized and the tasting was a blast. This is in large part thanks to Jen! She was great and helped make sure every detail was in place for us. We certainly appreciated this, as it made our lives easier.
The true test, of course, was the big day and McHale’s certainly delivered. The collaboration between McHale’s and New Riff was flawless, and we were so happy with the high quality of the service and food. The bride, groom and guests all felt very well taken care. We would highly recommend (and already have recommended) McHale’s to other engaged couples!
