Do you have a lot of out of town guests? Try to get a hotel that offers a shuttle service! Fewer cars equal fewer pollutants and saves on gas.
Have we not all heard the term “Bridezilla” and “the stressed out bride”? There is a common belief that it is all unavoidable. How can you really balance your normal life while planning this huge event and still stay sane? Of course, it is challenging. You have a lot on your plate and it is an emotional time but managing the stress with mindfulness can help!
In the wedding world with Pinterest, Instagram etc.. we become extremely overstimulated very easily with too many colors, ideas and decisions. Mindfully creating your Big Day with a list or a vision board with “Your Top 10” can limit the feelings of overwhelm. This list could be ANYTHING and include your top 10 non-negotiables. Focus on these 10 things and everything else is just a plus!
How often are you lying awake at night mindlessly scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest? Losing sleep and filling your mind with clutter.. both of which are creating anxiety and high cortisol levels in the body. Well, there is an app for that! Try “Onward” or “Sense of Moment” to limit your daily Social Media time!
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths! Every time you start to feel the tightness in your chest or anxiety driven thoughts, ask yourself when the last time you actually took a deep breath was. This will start to build the awareness to make this a habit and not just something you do when you reach a breaking point. Notice where you breathe. Are you breathing into your chest or down to the bottom of the belly? Short shallow breaths can actually cause more tension in your chest, so make them deep and long!
And lastly, practice gratitude! Start your morning with a gratitude list. Buy a gratitude journal and keep it with you. Go back to at any point in the day that you feel gross to bring yourself back to a place of gratitude.
Remember that your Special Day should represent your desires as a couple. Don't allow others to make this process one that is anything less that enjoyable! At the end of the day, you will be married to your best friend and that is all that really matters!
