Celebrations of Life are an end of life ceremony that have recently begun to replace funerals in the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati area. Commonly held after the physical remains have cared for through burials or cremation, Celebrations of Life offer much more time available to plan the event and to make decisions about how you would like to celebrate the life of your special person.
At McHale's Catering we can assist you in planning a special day to mark the passage of a family member or loved one, and offer some suggestion to make your service both special and memorable.
Contact Us to Set a Date
Unlike funerals or memorial services, Celebrations of Life are usually planned weeks (sometimes months) after the honorees passing. This allows family members and friends from out of town to make travel arrangements, and provides an easier way to "spread the word' among attendees. In addition, sometimes have an event in the future helps with the grieving process, since it doesn't feel quite as rushed as a funeral.
Set a Guest List
Unlike funerals, Celebrations of Life tend to be "invite only" affairs -- where invitations are sent to family members and friends. This helps the host get an accurate count for seating, food, and drinks.
Consider the Menu
We have hosted ceremonies that contain full course dinners, buffets, and even stations that highlighted the honorees favorite dishes (including Cincinnati chili!). In addition, we also offer you a choice of an open bar or tab bar to stay open during the service. If your loved one had a favorite beer, drink, or wine -- we can make sure that is available for a special toast.
Plan the Music
Did your loved one have a favorite band? A special playlist? Using our in-house speaker system that easily attaches to most portable music players (or phones), we can make certain his or her musical tastes are remembered.
Coordinate the Speeches and Photos
At the Gardens of Park Hills, we offer a complete podium package with microphone that will assist in the special stories about your loved one that guests wish to share. In addition, we offer a large projection screen that is perfect for displaying a video tribute or slideshow that you may wish to incorporate into the service.
Personalize our Banquet Hall
Consider decorating our hall with items that reflect who your loved one was -- or what they enjoyed. Were they a Bengals or Reds Fan? Decorate the hall with balloons in the team colors. Perhaps make centerpieces out of their old favorite books or hand out forget-me-not seeds if they enjoyed gardening. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
We know this is a difficult time, as it is never easy to say goodbye to someone you loved, but please know we will do everything possible to make your time planning and hosting the event as easy as possible.
